In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
In principio creavit Deus caelum et terram.
בְּרֵאשִׁית בָּרָא אֱלֹהִים אֵת הַשָּׁמַיִם וְאֵת הָאָרֶץ
And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep.
Terra autem erat inanis et vacua, et tenebrae super faciem abyssi.
וְהָאָרֶץ הָיְתָה תֹהוּ וָבֹהוּ וְחֹשֶׁךְ עַל־פְּנֵי תְהוֹם
And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.
Dixitque Deus: Fiat lux. Et facta est lux.
וַיֹּאמֶר אֱלֹהִים יְהִי אוֹר וַיְהִי אוֹר
And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness.
Et vidit Deus lucem quod esset bona, et divisit lucem a tenebris.
וַיַּרְא אֱלֹהִים אֶת־הָאוֹר כִּי־טוֹב וַיַּבְדֵּל בֵּין הָאוֹר וּבֵין הַחֹשֶׁךְ
And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night.

And God made the beast of the earth after his kind.
